Deck Reconditioning Sample Job

This deck is actually one of the more difficult to recondition because it had several layers of an existing finish that was wearing off unevenly.  Unlike decks that are gray from natural weathering (which are less expensive to recondition) this deck involved using a chemical treatment prior to bleaching.  The chemical is designed to strip the existing stain but is relatively plant safe.  The thumbnails on the right are before photos.

These photos of the same deck are immediately following
the stripping and bleaching process.  The deck is still wet in these photos.

After allowing a few days of drying time I returned.  I screwed down any loose planks on both the deck and benches and then applied the finish coat of stain.  The homeowner received several bids to replace the deck with the lowest bid being $6500.00.  I was able to recondition the deck for $1650.00.  Had this deck only been weathered gray I could have reconditioned it for about $900.00.  On the right are photos of the finished deck.  Watch out the deck stain is still wet!
